There was a beautiful breakfast buffet this morning. Everything you can imagine for most regions
in the world. They even have an espresso
machine for making magnificent coffees.
What a great way to start the day.

After about 40 minutes we arrived at the
shops we were interested in and OMG it was a feast for the eyes. Rayon Batiks on one side more for clothing, and
cotton batiks on the other – more for quilting.
We had such a great time even just looking but did not leave empty
handed. The prices are so good –
however, the weight of the fabrics coming home will be limiting….oh well it
will be fun – and if I arrive home without shoes, clothes and toiletries – I
know I will have shopped til I dropped!
Look at the rainbow cascading down the wall - Many of the batiks were patterned and they are made with special stamps and handmade dyes. Rayyis was kind enough to show us the dies and the pattern that it made on the cloth. This is only a small taste of what is to come.
On the way back to the hotel we stopped at a huge clothing
and trinket store. We were able to pick
up a few dresses each to wear while we are in Bali – it is too hot and sticky
to wear capris and t-shirts. The flowy
dresses are necessary and so much more comfortable. So a few rupias later and we were finally
back at the hotel to cool off and get ready for the arrival of our friends and
to meet the rest of the group.
At 6:30 the staff escorted our group to our waiting table on
the floating restaurant. Approaching
this beautifully set candle lit table with the sun setting in the background
took your breath away. We had delicious
pizza and they had Pimm’s Cooler on the menu – so of course I ordered
that. It was delicious even had cucumber
and an orange slice in it – how civilized.
Our group is varied and interesting and so far a good bunch. We will have fun together!

What a fabulous setting. You must feel you are in paradise. Wait a minute - YOU ARE!!! Have a wonderful time. When you return you can borrow some of my shoes and toiletries until you can replace those you left behind....

Amazing fabrics and the stamp Rayyis showed you is quite interesting. Do they mount it in a fixture/machine so it can be dipped and dropped onto the fabric to make the patterns? What a great way to find out how they do make the patterns,
