Lovely sleep last night and woke
up to the smell of bacon and coffee.
Today on the menu was fresh orange juice, blueberry buckwheat pancakes,
fresh fruit and local maple syrup. It
was delicious – certainly can’t complain about the breakfasts. They have all been different and wonderful.

After breakfast, we drove downtown and did a walkabout. First stop, Bluenose II – we weren’t able to go onboard, but we were certainly able to have a good look. It is experiencing many problems that are preventing it from sailing. So it is indefinitely moored until they can get it safe and seaworthy again. We wandered along the little main shopping area of old Lunenburg. Lots of place to poke in and out of and lots and lots of eateries. A couple of them have been featured on “You’ve Gotta Eat Here” and even mentioned in different magazines. So after trying one of them, The Salt Box Deli – we agreed it was delicious and were glad we stopped there for lunch. We each enjoyed or different choices.
After lunch, some more walking
around and then went in the car to go see the blue rocks. Not far away just down the coastal road. OMG an otter ran across the road in front of
the car. Too fast to get my camera out
to get a picture – but it was a confirmed sighting as we all saw it. So we think we got to the blue rocks, but with
the mist and fog (seems to come and go quickly) we weren’t sure if we had seen
them or not … everything looked the same shade of grey.
Since the fog was lifting on our way back, we drove up to the golf course to take a few pictures of this lovely town from across the bay. My goodness it is picturesque – so glad we got to see it from that side too.
Did manage to get a picture of a
nice little sandpiper (correct me if I’m wrong – too many look similar). He was picking at stuff on the rocks by the
shore. He was nice to see and
fortunately not too shy so I could get a decent photo. We then left to go back to the B&B for
some quite relaxation.
It was a nice day – just poking
around and enjoying the sights. Driving
up and down the streets and taking in all the old well maintained houses. This is what I imagine parts of New England
to be like. I will have to go there one
day to find out.
An artist has rendered shellfish and fish sculptures that hangs on many of the telephone poles around town. I have captured a few and still hope to get some more – they are indigenous species of this area. I really like them. They are different and so fitting for town dependent on the bounty of the sea.

Tonight we went to the Savvy
Sailor and had fresh scallops and a beet salad – it was delicious and since the
boats came in last night – the scallops were that fresh. Yum. So now back at the Inn and watching TV and
just chillin – a bit of rain tonight - so good night to stay in.

Those sculptures look great! I look forward to seeing more of them when you are home. As for the seafood, it looks and sounds as if you have hit a great year and fresh scallops must have been a treat.
It is such a neat thing to see different birds and animals even if they are fleeting observances. You don't need a picture for a memory bank - unless you are getting as old as me!
